Well, I have my Ohio licensure, and now comes the stressful part....waiting to hear about a job. I'm living with my friend Dan when I go home and have asked my recruiter to find me something about 10 miles away, or less. We'll see how that goes! Chicago has been fun, but I'm ready to go. 3 months is just enough time to experience the city. I'm tired of living in an apartment. The guy that moved in next door complained about the girls barking at 7am, which is completely understandable, but it's kinda hard for me to do anything about it other than apologize. Work is going well I have to say. It will always suck to not get the equipment someone needs, but I guess that will happen at every nursing home I go to. Unfortunately, the amount of money the administrator makes is far more important than the patient being safe in his/her least restrictive environment and preventing decubitus ulcers. It makes me sick, but is the reality of the nursing home world. KEEP YOUR FAMILY OUT OF NURSING HOMES, or at least be sure to know what your loved one needs and advocate for him/her.
Oh, by the way...I saw Oprah yesterday and all of the Olympians. It was incredible!!!! We went to her season premier taping. Everyone be sure to watch Sept 8 (this Monday). Look for me and Leslie standing on the lawn right at the gate!! More soon!
